Protect Your Home and Property

Wildfire Fuels Before Photo

BEFORE

We recently worked on a wildfire fuels reduction project on the north side of Awbrey Butte (see photos at the bottom). What started as a mess, turned into a safer piece of property. We cut all of the brush out, limbed trees, and cleared the drip lines around all trees. By doing these things we made this property, which was between two properties with homes on them, much more protected from wildfire.

We are “Accredited Fire Fuels Assessor” with first hand wildfire experience and can take a look at your property and help you make good decisions.

Wildfire is a genuine threat in Central Oregon and as temperatures rise and all things dry out, we must be prepared to save our homes and properties. There are several great resources in Central Oregon to learn more about wildfire fuels reduction and safety. Start with this top ten list from our friends at FireFree:

AFTER

  1. Define your defensible space. What is the minimum space that you need around your structures? What is the maximum?
  2. Reduce flammable brush around your home and nearby trees. Get a hold of us and we can help!
  3. Prune or remove trees. Limbing trees up helps wildfire from spreading.
  4. Keep grass and weeds cut low.
  5. Clear wood piles and building materials away from your home. The more combustibles you have around your home, the more dangerous it is.
  6. Keep your yard and roof clean.
  7. Keep address signs visible. Make sure emergency vehicles can find your place.
  8. Choose fire-resistant building materials and lawn furniture.
  9. Recycle yard debris – avoid burning. Pay attention to any burning restrictions.
  10. Be prepared to respond to wildfire. Have a plan and know your plan. Know your exit routes too.
