Seven Good Reasons for Stump Removal
Tree removal is a necessity at times. Stump removal is not always a necessity, but there are some good reasons to remove a stump on your property.
- Stumps are just not pretty. Aesthetically speaking, the sight of a stump in your front yard isn’t too appealing, unless you are very creative in hiding it!
- Stumps are hazardous. Stumps can be dangerous in your yard, especially if you have children running and playing outside. They can also be a liability if someone trips and injures himself on a stump in your yard. A tree stump can also damage your mower (and you) if you accidentally hit it while mowing your lawn.
- Stumps can start new tree growth. Some trees will continue to sprout on and around the stump, leaving you with many suckers (small trees) trying to make a go of it in your yard. You may then have to use chemicals to remove them. These little trees also leach nutrients from other plants nearby, degrading the overall health of your yard.
- Stumps are a pain to work around. If you are an avid or meticulous landscaper person, having that stump in the middle of your yard can just be a pain to work around when mowing or weeding.
- Stumps attract insects. When you leave a stump in your yard, it very slowly begins to decay, attracting beetles, ants and other wood-boring pests. Which may be okay in your yard, but not if they spread to your home.
- A decaying stump can also foster several types of fungus, which can spread to other plants.
- Stumps take up yard space. The space you lose from a large stump can be significant, especially in a small yard. Imagine what else could be in that spot!
